HRSA Requirements
All FQHCs are required to follow the CMS Emergency Preparedness Requirements for Medicare and Medicaid Participating Providers and Suppliers Final Rule. Health Centers must develop and maintain an emergency preparedness communication plan and participate in an annual training and testing program.
HRSA asks Primary Care Associations to take the lead in gathering critical health center information and reporting impact data back to them on the operational status of delivery sites during emergencies.
OPCA has a memorandum of understanding with all member FQHCs which details steps to follow when your health center is impacted by an emergency. This statement of understanding indicates your health center’s acknowledgement and intended participation in OPCA’s requirement to report critical health center information to HRSA during an emergency.
An emergency is an event affecting the overall target populations community at large, which precipitates the declaration of a state of emergency.
If your health center operations are affected by an emergency please complete the Health Center Emergency Operational Status Survey after your staff and patients are safe.
If OPCA is unreachable, contact the Northwest Regional Primary Care Association, 206-300-4154, or help@nwprca.org.
