Federally Qualified Health Centers, also known as Community Health Centers, are vital access points for communities to receive comprehensive and culturally responsive health care. Yet despite the breadth of services they provide, CHCs often operate without the recognition or investment they deserve. Long called the “best kept secret” in health care, OPCA is working diligently to ensure that’s no longer the case.
In today’s entry for National Health Center Week, OPCA is breaking down its strategic goal to enhance awareness of health centers among elected officials, funders, and decision-makers to illustrate the value and impact of CHCs in improving the health of Oregonians.
Conversation with the Policy Team
To start our conversation, I asked my colleagues to share a little about themselves:

Marty Carty, Governmental Affairs Director

Erin Woods, Health Policy Analyst
In summary, OPCA is committed to elevating the visibility of health centers and stewarding relationships that advance health care access for all Oregonians. We understand the crucial role elected officials, funders, and decision-makers play in our mission. By informing health policy and sharing impactful stories, we are helping these leaders recognize what our communities have always known: Community Health Centers (CHCs) are essential to a healthier future for Oregon. If you’re interested in participating in advocacy efforts, please contact Marty Carty at mcarty@orpca.org.
