Position Summary:
The Psychiatric Prescriber is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with mental health disorders. The prescriber works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care and optimal patient outcomes. Winding Waters Medical Clinic is open to filling this position with either a local prescriber (providing care in- clinic) or remote prescriber (providing telemedicine). This position involves providing care to patients who will access the prescriber either in-person or via telemedicine, with location of service being in the clinic or in a home/residential environment.
Clinical Responsibilities:
1. Patient Assessment and Diagnosis:
– Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments.
– Diagnose mental health disorders using DSM-5 criteria.
– Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
2. Medication Management:
– Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications.
– Monitor patient responses to medications and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
– Educate patients and families about medications, including potential side effects and benefits.
3. Therapeutic Interventions:
– Provide brief therapeutic interventions as needed.
– Collaborate with therapists and other mental health professionals to coordinate care.
– Refer patients to appropriate services for additional support when necessary.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
– Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, social workers, and primary care providers.
– Participate in case conferences and treatment team meetings.
– Maintain clear and timely communication with patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
5. Documentation and Compliance:
– Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with clinic policies and regulatory requirements.
– Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
– Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to best practice guidelines.
6. Education and Professional Development:
– Stay current with developments in psychiatry and psychopharmacology.
– Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
– Mentor and educate other staff members as needed.
